Welcome back to the Elm Tree Quiz online for our latest quiz posed on Wednesday 22 April.
Quizmasters are of course never wrong. Except when they mix up Quantum Leap, the US TV series starring Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell, with Quantum Jump, the British rock band featuring Rupert Hine and best known for its hit The Lone Ranger.
I did once read out a question featuring that song’s lyric which reputedly contains the longest word ever to feature in the UK charts, namely Taumatawhakatangi-hangakoauauotama-teaturipukaka-pikimaungahoron-kupokaiwhenu-akitanatahu.
This is of Maori derivation and means “the summit where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, the slider, climber of mountains, the land-swallower who travelled about, played his nose flute to his loved one”.
In my defence I cite Richard Feynman who noted that “if you think you understand quantum mechanics, you don’t understand quantum mechanics”.
Anyway, no quantum mechanics or nose flutes in this week’s quiz…
All the best
